Robert (Bob) John Kozurok

It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) John Kozurok announces his passing on January 26, 2026, in Edmonton at the age of 85. Bob was predeceased by his father, John Kozurok; his mother, Margaret Kozurok Skraba; his brother, John Kozurok; and his brothers-in-law Glen Derksen, Keith Derksen, and Leagh Nagie. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 46 years, Colette Kozurok, with whom he built a life centered on family, love, and the things that truly mattered. Bob was a proud father to Tanya (Pierre) Forster, Michael Kozurok and Shawn (Nikki) Kozurok, and a cherished grandfather to Juliette, Simon, Oliver, Lena, and Nova, who brought him immense joy and pride. Time spent with his family was always his greatest priority. Bob is also survived by his in-laws Norma McBain, Joanell Nagie, Chris and Randy Derksen, Karen Derksen, Michele and Murray Derksen, and Kathy and Steve Pisio, along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who held him dear. Bob was known for his strong work ethic, skill, and dedication. His talents were so highly regarded that he was given the opportunity to relocate his family to New Zealand — an experience that brought him immense happiness and became one of the great adventures of his life. Bob treasured his time there, especially the simple joy of having his toes in the sand at the beach, enjoying the beauty and peace of his surroundings. He also loved traveling, spending winters in Yuma, and exploring Europe and many other places, always appreciating new experiences and making lasting memories. Bob found happiness in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures — painting, reading, and long conversations around a warm fire on summer nights. He was known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, gentle nature, and calm spirit. People were drawn to his warmth and sincerity, and he made others feel heard and valued. He valued friendships deeply and will be fondly remembered by many who shared laughter and good times with him over the years. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. In keeping with Bob’s wishes and spirit, no formal service will be held. A celebration of his life will take place this summer, when a cherry tree will be planted in his honour — a living tribute to a life rooted in love, growth, and quiet beauty. At that time, the family will share a poem Bob held close to his heart: Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush; I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there; I did not die. Bob’s love, kindness, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
