Antonette Bidlock

Our beloved sister, mother, grandmother Antonette “Toni” Bidlock (Rivard) passed away on January 19th, 2025. Toni will be remembered and missed dearly by her children Warren (Pam) Bidlock, Wanda (Ken) Johnson, Robert Bidlock, brothers George (Evelyn) Rivard, Everett (Irene) Williams. Grandchildren Alycia (Bruce) Gallagher, Janice (Marcel) Macabeo, Shelly Nadary, Andrew (Michelle) Brown, Angela Brown, Kirk Johnson, Jonah Johnson. Great Grandchildren, Sophaya, Kadynz, Justice, Gabriel, Sydney, Sebastian, London, Bronson, Eli, Eno. And Great Great grandchild Grant. Toni was predeceased by her father George Rivard, mother Edith Bidlock, brothers Derald and Wayne Rivard. In Mom’s childhood, times were hard, money was scarce, and at times there was very little to eat. At the tender age of 9 yrs old, mom started looking after her three younger siblings in their country home of St. Lina, Alberta. Doreen Rivard (mom’s cousin) age 12 came to help mom care for the children. Doreen recalls food being so scarce that they lived off beet roots she dug up to make soup and a half box of macaroni. The children attended the Bellerive school (District 4175) by walking or by taking their ornery horse and sleigh. After the family was split up mom went to her aunts until settling at a convent when she was 12 years old. Mom went to the city to work in her teen’s. After mom married, she later divorced raising her three children. Mom’s door was always open, she loved to cook and entertain, during the holidays she would make her cabbage rolls, perogies and soup can banana bread. Mom loved to spend time with her grandchildren in particular Alycia, Shelly and Janice as they lived close by. On a funny note, mom in her later years right up into her last days was known for her strong will and determination, she was familiar to the word s_ _ _ _! Going up those three flights of stairs carrying groceries and whatever else she could carry++; after walking blocks mom would say “IT KEEPS ME STRONG”. Please join us celebrating Toni’s life Saturday morning May 10th, 2025, at 11 am in Ashmont, Alberta, at the Legion Hall. In remembrance of Toni’s time spent helping at her local center which provided numerous folks in need of food and clothing. In lieu of flowers a donation would be appreciated going towards a food bank, soup kitchen or clothing centre.
